Mold-Making and Prototypes

Mold making
(3 hours for two evenings - 6:30 to 9:30 pm.)
(6 hours Saturday 9 to 12 & 1 to 4)
Cost $90.00 materials and GST included
The first session will cover the making of hard molds with fiberglass materials. In this course we will cover single and multi part molds as well as discuss the materials needed for low use molds and production molds. Hands-on work will include creating pieces from different types of hard molds. In the second session we will discuss rubber mold materials and processes. Attendees will have the opportunity to make some rubber molds and some molded pieces.

Rubber Mold Making and Use
(3 hours 6:30 to 9:30 pm)
Cost $50.00 - materials and GST included
This course is designed to address the three types of rubber molds most commonly used. They will be identified and their different uses and material suitability will be outlined. We will also cover the number of parts a mold will make. Attendees will have the opportunity to make some molds and molded pieces during this course.

Prototype Construction
(3 hours 6:30 to 9:30 pm)
Cost $60.00 materials and GST included
In this course we will discuss and use wood, pour-in place foam, wire screen, fiberglass, body filler and clay to design project prototypes. Bring your idea or design to this course if you have one and you can use this course to identify the right materials for your project. The different materials used will suit some projects better than others. During this course attendees will be able to make small prototypes.
